Recognized Again as a Family-Friendly Employer
On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, symmedia received the Family-Friendly Employer award for the second time. The honor was presented by the Bielefeld Alliance for Families (Bielefelder Bündnis für Familien) at the Chamber of Skilled Crafts (Handwerkskammer). The jury – made up of representatives from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK), the City of Bielefeld’s Department of Social Affairs, WEGE mbH, REGE mbH, the Federal Employment Agency, and the City of Bielefeld’s Equal Opportunities Office – visited and assessed every company that applied in 2024. 25 companies received the award, 10 of them for a second time or more.
The jury particularly highlighted the wide range of initiatives companies have introduced to support families. At symmedia, these include:
- Special leave for childbirth, a baby welcome bonus, flexible parental leave, and paid days off to care for sick children
- Various part-time models and sabbaticals
- Flexible work location (office or home office – relocating is possible thanks to remote work)
- The option to take caregiver leave for family members
- Support for staying active with FitforFuture, SportNavi, and JobRad bike leasing – to stay fit for family life
The certificate was presented by Mayor Pit Clausen, Dr. Jens Prager of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts, Ulrich Tepper of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Hanna Drabon of WEGE mbH.
